At Jefferson County Health Center (JCHC), the emergency department (ED) have highly trained, dynamic staff here for your peace of mind 24 hours a day, seven days a week. JCHC staff work collaboratively with Emergency Service in Jefferson County including Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Fire and Law Enforcement. The ED also works with a Crisis Assessment team in Jefferson County to help patients access the care they need. Accredited by the state of Iowa as a level IV trauma center, JCHC has the ability to provide advanced trauma life support including evaluating, stabilizing and having diagnostic capabilities for injured patients. JCHC is committed to providing all patients with high quality, compassionate care.

Healthcare requires ongoing education and skills necessary for ever-changing environments. The Emergency Department is not only dedicated to addressing these educational needs for current staff, but is also an available resource for the community and future generations of healthcare providers.  It provides a welcoming learning environment for nursing and EMS students as part of their training.

JCHC wants to continue to be an active community partner. Community projects the ED participates in include but are not limited to:

  • First Aid @ the Jefferson County Fair
  • Health Fair Education booth
  • Disaster preparedness on the County and Regional level
  • Jefferson County Alcohol Consumption Task Force (ACT)
